HISTORY EL PALOMAR
El Palomar Ceramics was founded in Cali’s San Antonio neighborhood, one of the city’s most traditional by Phazán Valencia family back in 1975. From the very beginning they decided that El Palomar would strive to establish an entirely a new artistic expression, based on their own conception of the life. From the very beginning they decided that El Palomar would strive to establish an entirely a new artistic expression, based on their own conception of the life.
The miscegenation of pre-Columbian peoples with Spanish colonists and newcomers provided the original inspiration for the ceramic creations of El Palomar’s founders. This inspiration has been carefully nurtured by their offspring, Jessica Pazán and Ravel Pazán, as their esthetics and creativity find expression in a diversity of styles and designs.
Our artwork reflect a style of our very own, redolent with images and symbols of a pre- Columbian world who, when melded with the colonists that followed, produced a vital, sensual culture. That is at the heart of El Palomar’s artistic inspiration.
Over the years, El Palomar has built a solid reputation for fine, hand-crafted ceramics and came to occupy a place of importance both at home and abroad as its artwork embodied Cali’s time-honored traditions. Visitors from afar were soon flocking to its workshops to witness firsthand the ceramic artwork as it took form.
Actually, El Palomar is a specialized firm in the creation of hand-made decorative ceramics, and utilitarian with the highest standards of quality, directed to an exclusive local, national, and international public. Starting with a constant development of our techniques and original designs, our extended trajectory strengthens since more than 30 years ago.
